Events , events, events !

I simply have to tell you about the Routeburn Classic I did last month. It is one of those running events, that has been on my list for a long time, but I was never sure my off road credentials were good enough to cope with the wild and wonderful nature of it (and the hills to go with it!).

On the day, alas, it was not to be. A gnarly front of weather came through just as the event was due to start and it had to be postponed to the following day.  Trying to change flights back to Auckland, accommodation and other travel arrangements though made it all but impossible. And just when we had all but come to terms with not being able to complete this amazing running event, a group of intrepid runners sat next to us and started plotting to go out on the track anyways, as the weather had passed and the track was open to trampers anyways.

As it was, we had to take a slightly unusual approach, think feel the fear and do it anyways, but it was worth it all the way . And what’s even more amazing is to think we could have gone all that way and missed out, were it not for the old Kiwi ‘give it a go’ spirit. And I am so glad we did!

Other running events our customers have reported on over the last couple of months were:

The inaugural Air New Zealand  Hawkes Bay Marathon : Great reviews all around, well organized and cheerful – even if the heat and the long straights did catch some people out (Sunburn in late may ??).

The wonderful xterra trailrun series continued with their Shakespeare leg and I am told was awesome as always, even if crossing a stretch of coastline waste deep (!) had some runners worried about their i pods 🙂 Thumbs up to Total Sports events !xterra

As always, plenty of good reasons to get yourself out there and of course : Enjoy a massage afterwards!

Happy massaging as always,

Carmen
