We recently updated some of the stock in the clinic to include a select number of foam rollers, spikey massage balls, exercise bands, as well as Anti Flamme, ice packs and wheat bags. Having the right tools at hand is a great way to make sure you are getting the most out of your rec
overy and are maximizing your training. Sports massage is the first step, but having a box of tricks at home to look after yourself day to day until your next massage is an important part of maintaining your well being.
Many sports people, runners in particular, find that rolling their muscles with a foam roller is helping them to recover from a hard run better, than just resting or stretching alone. For the more hard core foam rollers, there are also foam rollers with profiles (see picture).
The same goes for ice packs. The sooner you ice a rolled ankle or small calf niggle, the better. And sometimes just rubbing some Anti Flamme into the top of the shoulder will help easy off those aches and pains after a hard out swim.
