Running slower to get faster!

My last post for this year is predictably based around getting over Xmas lunch and the hang-over from that amazing New Year’s Eve party. Well, kind of . While I am sure you can not wait to get your diary out for next year and earmark all those events you are going to enter once the festive season is over, remember this : Before you get going , take a moment to evaluate the year that has been. Maybe it is time to consider this crazy idea : Running slower to get faster (and who doesn’t want to do that!).

Jeff Gaudete, who writes a great running blog runnersconnect.net, which I enjoy tremendously. Sometimes less is simply more, and he will tell you all about that.

Having said this though, I am very excited to be taking on my first Ultra this year, the Keppler Challenge 60 km marathon. Yes, I know what you are saying: Registrations are still closed until June, but hey – gotta think positive !

I will be using the Asics run app, which has gotten me safely through my last marathon, but am open to suggestions for where to look for a training app, so feel free to message me your suggestions below ! I will keep you posted on how things go , fingers crossed !

And last but not least, I want to thank everybody for making this year one to remember. I feel completely blessed to be able to have such wonderful cyclists, runners, triathletes and all out sports enthusiasts to call my customers. The year sure did start out on one heck of a challenge with hubby Shayne breaking his neck in a cycling crash and the ensuing challenge of recovery. I look back and am so grateful for his recovery, my return to sanity and the enormous love and support from all that have gotten us back to wonderful, comfortable , normal!
