News @ Auckland Sports and Therapeutic Massage Feb 2017

It’s the time of the year, when it seems just about everyone of our fabulous clients is getting ready for an event:

Dusty is doing Tarawera Ultra, Darryl is doing the Wellington to Auckland cycle challenge and let’s not forget Ironman Taupo is just around the corner (go Toni and all), as well as Katrina’s amazing swim I told you about in my last post.

And then there is Antarctica , isn’t there Tracy ?! Yes, every once in a while I am so happy to see that running, swimming, cycling or any other activity we call recreational can actually become much bigger than that, it becomes an act of kindness and it even becomes art. Let me explain.

Tracy is running a marathon in Antarctica fundraising for The Asylum Seekers Support Trust. With all the global events taking center stage these days it is easy to develop compassion fatigue. I would be the first to admit, that running is the one time when my head is not close to exploding with the complexity (and so often the stupidity) of todays’ world. But let’s not forget that refugees are also fellow athletes with harrowing stories about their home lands, who need a bit of our help here. So please, let’s dig deep and help Tracy run Antarctica !

But if donating for running is not your thing – how about a thing of beauty of another kind :  Frame works !

‘Frame Works has invited over 90 New Zealand artists to […] transform a plain wooden 12x16in frame into a unique and desirable piece of art […]. From the 22nd April 2017 these frames will be displayed in shop windows in a walkable trail around Auckland Britomart and High Street. Art lovers, families and the community will be encouraged to find and choose their favourite pieces, with an APP and a map to help locate the artworks. On 2nd May 2017, there will be an art sale of the frames in a gala event, by live and online auction’
